Our fasting quote of encouragement today is from Elmer Towns. He said: "When you fast to know God, don't begin seeking Him or trying to learn more about Him. Start by emptying yourself. Lord, I surrender all to you."

Our fasting devotional today is titled "FIVE STEPS TO A SUCCESSFUL DANIEL FAST" (PART 13) from Susan Gregory, author of the bestselling book "The Daniel Fast".

Today, we will continue looking at planning in greater detail:

Our Father wants us to examine ourselves so we can become the strong and healthy individuals He knows we can be! We are called to this duty of self-examination. 1 Corinthians 31:32 says, "For if we would judge ourselves, we should not be judged. But when we are judged, we are chastened of the Lord, that we should not be condemned with the world." The term chastened means "to instruct for learning." When we look at our shortcomings, our loving Father will show us what we need to do to change from weakness to strength. And if we spend the time to take a close look inside, we can learn new ways before we fall and have to pick up the broken and cracked pieces.
