Our fasting quote of encouragement today is from Bill Bright. He said: "Fasting with a pure heart and motives, I have discovered, brings personal revival and adds power to our prayers. Personal revival occurs because fasting is an act of humility. Fasting gives opportunity for deeper humility as we recognize our sins, repent, receive God's forgiveness, and experience His cleansing of our soul and spirit. Fasting also demonstrates our love for God and our full confidence in His faithfulness."

Our fasting devotional today is titled "THE DANIEL FAST PRESCRIPTION: YIELD ALL RESULTS TO GOD" from Dr. Elmer L. Towns in his book "Fasting for Spiritual Breakthrough".

When Daniel fasted, he submitted himself to the consequences of his convictions. "As you see fit, so deal with your servants. Now here is a little quiz:

1. Did Daniel say, "I won't eat it, so you will have to punish/kill me"?

2. Did Daniel say, "If my diet doesn't make me better, I'll eat the king's food"?

3. Did Daniel say, "My diet will make me better; then you'll decide to leave us on it?

Actually, none of the above. Daniel's conviction was based on his faith and trust in God. So he submitted himself to God and trusted Him for the consequences.
