Keeping the "Christ" in (or out) Christmas

But hold up...what if Christ doesn't belong there in the 1st place.. Does the scripture denounce or allow the celebration of specific holiday's and other possible secular practices ex. Christmas, birthdays, Easter, Thanksgiving etc? Are these holidays rooted in Pagan worship that we've chosen to ignore over the past 2 centuries?
