This week we will be discussing the legacies and History of Belly Dance and Pole Dance. We will be placing a particular focus on the use of these dances in mainstream fitness and the vaious health and healing properties associated with them.  More on my guests below.

GUESTS:

Vel, the proud founder and owner of Brooklyn’s Finest Pole Dancing Studio is a native of Brooklyn, New York.  She has been a dancer her entire life.  Vel has traveled extensively throughout Japan, Europe and West Africa studying dance and performing with dance and theater companies.  Several years ago Vel found a new passion to add to her dance training – POLE DANCING!  After treating herself to some pole dance classes for her birthday, she became hooked.  Since then, Vel has studied pole dancing extensively with some of the industries’ leading pole dance competitors, choreographed pole routines and performed as a pole dancer in New York City.  Vel is a Certified Climb & Spin Pole Dance Instructor and was trained by Co-creators of the Climb&Spin method Wendy Traskos and Kira Lamb.  .

and

Sara Star is a belly dancer from Chicago who regularly performs and teaches for artistic, cultural, educational, and entertainment events, as well as personal bookings.
