0153 2010, Thurs, Sept 16, Conservative Latino Talk Radio discusses news with hard hitting commentary. Today is a uniquely historic day as really historic events are taking place today. In Mexico, they celebrate their Bicentennial Mexican Independence Day and the centennial of their last revolution in 1910 during which they deposed the dictator Porfirio Diaz. This is celebrated also with recognition of “Our Lady of Guadalupe,” the Patroness of the Americas, as also the Patroness of Mexico. In all this is a celebration of both Mexican culture and Catholic culture in the Americas. Catholic history is also on display in London, UK, today as Pope Benedict XVI visits that nation. But that event, like the Mexican celebrations today also meets with some protest and push back. Some of this protest is based upon new matters but continues to emanate from old suppositions and discrimination. I report on the history of anti-Catholicism in the Americas and in the United Kingdom, how they are related, and how they continue to manifest today in both anti-Catholicism and anti-immigration rhetoric.
