0034 2010, Wed, Feb 24, Conservative Latino Talk Radio. A discussion of gun rights. There has been a shortage of handgun ammunition for over a year yet several sources report that ammunition production is in full swing. A source reported that gun owners seeing California recently passed ammunition taxes and registration fear the unfriendly Obama administration will follow suit. Pajamas Media reported an increased demand by law enforcement. Also, a faltering economy stimulates the perception of increasing crime. Those factors, coupled with the perception of an inevitable political attack on firearms and/or ammunition continue to maintain the desire for consumers to stockpile their ammunition. As the Second Amendment continues to gain strength in the Supreme Court it seems the Obama administration is now interested in attacking gun ownership through the backdoor. According to Wayne LaPierre in his “Standing Guard” column in the Feb. 2010 issue of American Rifleman Magazine, Hillary Clinton stated to the UN “The United States is committed to actively pursuing a strong and robust treat that contains the highest possible, legally binding standards for the international transfer of the conventional weapons.” Former UN Ambassador John Bolton reported this effort is not aimed simply at international transfer of small arms but is another insidious effort at domestic gun control. This goes along very well with Mr. Obama’s style of secrecy and skullduggery. Lastly, there is some good news in the defense of the Second Amendment. Lauro reads excerpts from the NRA-ILA report in the March 2010 American Rifleman which reports murder and violent crime are down 45% during the last decade! This coincides with the FBI’s report that firearm sales are up and continuing to increase year after year. Thus, gun ownership does equal less crime. Lauro concludes the solution to the ammunition shortage is to vote Republican in 2010 & 2012.
