Clare’s story in her own words;

“As a healthy 64 year old I was enjoying my new life in Australia. Between my family_ son Stephen, daughter in law Jo, and 2 granddaughters, Ailsa 8 and Heather 3 and working part time as a Leadership trainer and Inspirational coach, things were rolling along nicely. Then on 22 Oct 2015 I was delivering a talk on goal setting and how learning about the brain can help us, not realising that my own brain was bleeding and I was having a stroke. Fortunately, Jo, a doctor, was in the audience and spotted the signs and very quickly got the ambulance, literally saving my life.

Of course I just kept talking not wanting to let my audience down! Then started this last year’s journey of resilience, adjustment, and determination to recover. Not just to survive but to thrive.

From complete right side paralysis and having to be lifted by a hoist I’m now walking independently and finding out what I can do more than dwelling on what I can’t. Modern day Neuroscience now tells us that the brain can rewire, re-generate if we do the work.”
