On November 13, 2022, the University of Virginia wide receivers Lavel Davis Jr., a native of Huntersville, North Carolina and Devin Chandler, a native of Miami, Florida along with linebacker D'Sean Perry, a native of Dorchester, South Carolina were killed on the university's campus. Also, running back Mike Hollins, a native of Baton Rouge, Louisiana was wounded in the shooting. The suspect involved in the shooting is Christopher Darnell Jones, Jr.. Jones, a native of Henrico County, Virginia was charged with three counts of second-degree murder, as well as three counts of using a handgun in the alleged commission of a felony. Recently, Jones was denied bond during his first court appearance. In 2018, Jones played running back for the Cavaliers.

 

Shanquella Robinson has died after being beaten to death in her hotel room by a friend on vacation in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico. When the incident happened, the twenty-five year old Charlotte, North Carolina native was with six other friends. Daejhanae Jackson, the perpetrator in the incident was responsible for the brutal death while the remaining party recorded the incident on their cell phones. Outrage has been shown after video of the incident was put on various social media outlets.
