Lee Hawkins Reporter, The Wall Street Journal. Lee Hawkins is a staff reporter for The Wall Street Journal and appears frequently as a guest commentator on Fox Business News. A multimedia journalist, Mr. Hawkins reports, shoots and edits WSJ videos on a variety of topics. He is the host of both the WSJ’s "Weekend Conversations" show and the Walkabout NYC series and contributes regularly to the News Hub and Digits. He also has been a contributor to CNBC, where he hosted the highly-rated one-hour documentary, “NEWBOs: The Rise of America’s New Black Overclass.” In addition to the videos on this page, samples of Mr. Hawkins' work are here and here. Mr. Hawkins previously covered General Motors Co. from the Journal's Detroit bureau. Before reporting on GM and the challenges facing America’s “Big Three” automakers, he worked as a business reporter for the Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel and the Wisconsin State Journal. He has covered a wide range of industries during his career, including electric and telecommunications utilities, manufacturing, technology and minority-owned businesses. Mr. Hawkins holds a Bachelor's degree in political science from the University of Wisconsin-Madison, where he was editorial page editor of the Badger Herald student newspaper. He is a member of the UW-Madison board of visitors for the School of Journalism and Mass Communications.
