The US DOE's Clean Cities Program: Helping break our nations oil addiction in the transportation sector.

Meet the super-stars that brought to reality the largest [rental] fleet conversion to natural gas in US History.

Ryder Trucking goes green!

Host: Curtis Martin
Guest: Michelle Kirkhoff, President MK Consulting

My first guest will be Michelle Kirkhoff, past Director of Air Quality/Mobility for Orange County Transit Authority (OCTA) in 1988, Clean Cities Coordinator For the San Bernadino Area until 2010.

Michelle was a key organizer in putting together the Ryder/SANBAG project.

The Ryder/SANBAG project is part of a joint public/private partnership between the U.S. Department of Energy, the California Energy Commission, San Bernardino Associated Governments, Southern California Association of Governments, and Ryder.

The $38.7 million project includes a total of 202 natural gas vehicles available for lease or rent, three strategically located natural gas compliant maintenance shops in Rancho Dominguez, Orange, and Fontana, and two fueling stations. Ryder took delivery of 70 vehicles in May and is expected to have the balance of the full 202  natural gas vehicle order in its fleet by the end of 2011.
