Philadelphia has designated the 2nd Saturday in October to be Indigenious People's Day and El Shafiq Ali played a role in bringing this to fruition. El Shafiq Ali, is one of the original cofounders/co-host of Civil Alert Radio when the show aired in Philly from 2000-2008. Since the show, he has been diligent with being involved in community affairs.
