Exodus- During the interval of hundrds of years between Genesis and Exodus the circumstances of the Israelites in Egypt changed drastically. From being favorably treated by Joseph, they were made slaves by a king who did not know about Joseph(1:8).
The book of Exodus begins then with the story of the birth of Moses and how God prepared him to bring the Israelites out of slavery. An excellent education in Phraohs court and the discipline of desert living prepared Moses to lead Israel through the wildernes, the journey to Mount Sinai and the two major events at Sinai- the giving of the law and the construction of the tabernacle. The book shows how God took an unorganized group of slaves and welded them together as a theocratic nation, i,e,, a nation ruled by God.
Exodus records the dramatic confrontation of MosesPharaoh, the crossing of the Red Sea
