Special guest will be a candidate for Ward 17 alderman, Mr. Ron Carter who will be talking about the need for good housing in the ward and his plans to make this happen. Some abbreviated information about Ron Carter is hereby noted. For 16 years, the South Street Journal Newspaper of Chicago has continued to break the news and influence the agenda in Chicago to cover the city’s streets, neighborhoods and institutions beyond the news to advocacy in the stories addressed. Its publisher and editor Ron Carter with 41 years of community organizing background and roots, and now the Chairman of Black Wall Street – Chicago, has laid the foundation to be a member of the City Council as the 17th Ward Alderman. As a youth was raised in CHA Robert Taylor Homes, moving on to an associate of the Black Panther Party, to this day he has been a principle organizer in many social and political directions. All which has lead SSJ to host many community and advocacy agendas as the principle organizer in a variety of initiatives from voter forums and registration drives, public policy dialogue, housing issues, president of the 47th Street Business Association; all leading to an economic agenda which he now sits as the Chair of The Black Wall Street-Chicago (BWS-C).
