Stank Funk Music was the brain child of Eric McAlister back in 1989 when after sitting at a Budweiser Superfest Concert decide that he could do the exact same things that he just seen on stage. With not an ounce of experience, Eric bought a simple 4-track recorder and a 4 second sampler.

Eric started building songs with each note being played through the sampler. Meaning…. Each drum, hat, snare, was tapped out in sequence to build the song. He says simply.. “That was tiring.” Soon after, Eric decided instead of purposely messing up songs he had rewritten , he starting writing real songs. Less than a year later Eric entered a hip hop contest which had the likes of Snoop Dogg, Warren G, Nate Dogg, Domino, just about every major hip hop artist from Long Beach and wiped the stage with them. What set Eric apart was his powerful voice that often confused the listener and he needed a name to go along with it.
