David Bacon is an author, journalist, broadcaster, and documentary photographer based in northern California. He is an associate editor at Pacific News Service, and has written for Truthout, The Nation, The American Prospect, The Progressive, and the San Francisco Chronicle. His photography has been exhibited widely. His books include "Illegal People: How Globalization Creates Migration and Criminalizes Immigrants." For 20 years, Bacon was a laborer and union organizer for unions in which immigrant workers made up a large percentage of the membership -- including the United Farm Workers, the United Electrical Workers, and the International Ladies' Garment Workers.
