I have decided to take up more grad studies- an MBA in Human Resources specializing in Abuse in the Workplace esp. in the 'helping fields' in order to augment experiences with research and study to write books etc.- in order to help promote Healthy Workplace environments. Abuse in the Workplace is rampant in our society and becoming epidemic in proportion. Targets who are good workers from all walks of life have little recourse at this time from Workplace bullying although there are now proposals for law legislation (including Canada) coming in various countries that will make this commonplace work practice illegal and a criminal human rights violation on par with any other discriminatory practice. Bullies on the School Playground grow up to be Workplace bullies. Bullies are very costly in terms of turnover, finances, losing and retraining good workers etc. Bullies have learned abusive controlling behaviour is normal and even rewarded in toxic work environments and the cure for it is firm boundaries and open dialogue so they are unable to operate in secrecy and shame towards their victims. This behaviour must be stopped by becoming intolerable and illegal / criminal. Awareness and talking candidly about our experiences in the light are a first step- coupled with bringing in tough legislation and laws in our countries that penalize this behaviour as criminal through the justice or human rights system. We hope to do a Pilot series first for a few shows to see how it goes and open dialogue to any listeners who want to call in and share their experiences in the second part of the program- the first part the host/s will provide the latest info and research findings in to abuse and bully behaviour in the Workplace as well as how to handle it. I am an ordained Christian Minister with our own companies and also have over 2 decades of both education / work experience in mental health and allied fields. The Show host/s will also share our own stories of overcoming. RM
