In April 2009, the BSA launched the Faces of Internet Piracy, a campaign designed to educate buyers and sellers of the dangers of illegal software by putting a human face on the issue. Over the past year, BSA toured the country interviewing software pirates from all walks of life including a track star, a grandmother, a business owner and a software programmer. These individuals offered their stories to BSA, detailing how they became involved with online piracy; the unscrupulous actions they employed to sell and offer illegal software to unsuspecting consumers through auction sites, websites and chat rooms; and the consequences of these actions.
