Take one part jazz, two parts Sunday Morning and a pinch of academia and you have the recipe for Rhonda Welsh's spoken word. Using poetry, she examines everyday topics through an inspirational lens. Her biggest poetic influences are Gil Scott Heron, Maya Angelou and Langston Hughes. The only poet featured during the Detroit Institute of Arts Re-opening, Rhonda adds a jazzy delivery to pieces about life, love, loss, self-realization and faith.
