This is a "family room" discussion forum for African Americans to discuss the self-help and moral development concepts promoted by Dr. Booker Taliaferro Washington, the founding president of The Tuskegee Normal and Industrial Institute, now Tuskegee University, founded on July 4, 1881.  

Tonight we invite our audience to call in and share your ideas concerning strategies that we may employ to lift our people in America from "dust to industry".  Our immediate goal is to survive and to prosper in the face of increasing hostile attacks from the current presidential administration on programs that have provided us with a "safety net" against dire poverty for the past three generations, since the 1960s. As members of a unique familygroup in the American community, we need to carve out our own future, rather than remain wards of the U. S.
