Welcome to The Blues Unchained Music Hour, the koolest music show on BTR, where you will hear a very eclectic mix of tunes and music talk.

Tonights Special Guest is singer and drummer Big Joe Maher, who will join our host, musician Bobby 'Blue' Perry, for our "Featured Artist" segment.

We'll play some kool tunes from Big Joe's discography, including his brand new CD, "You Can't Keep A Big Man Down". We'll also talk about his approach to playing drums and singing, his recent experience on the 'Blues Cruise', and a recent run-in with Steven Tyler of the legendary rock band Aerosmith.

Maher's an award winning performer and producer with a list of accomplishments in music that include Washington Area Music Association (WAMA or WAMMIE) awards for Male Blues Vocalist in 2005 and 2009 in addition to winning "Best Blues Recording" WAMMIE Awards for two of his great Big Joe and the Dynaflows CD's, "I'm Still Swingin'" in (1998) and "Layin’ in the Alley" in 1994.

One of the most versatile music performers in the business today, "Big Joe" Maher has been a performing drummer/singer over the past 30 years. Starting with his high school jazz band, where he got to perform at an early age with legendary jazz musicians Clark Terry and James Moody as well as others, his list of credits is like a "who’s who" of blues & jazz. Over time he has shared the stage and backed up musicians like Jimmy Witherspoon, Bullmoose Jackson, James "Thunderbird" Davis, Nappy Brown, Otis Rush, Earl King, Jeff Sarli (who worked on projects with Keith Richards/Levon Helm), John Previti (formerly of the Danny Gatton Band) and many more.

Thanks for joining us.

Long Live The Blues!
