Mr. Paul Bollinger will discuss the Army’s receipt of 4,000 neighborhood electric vehicles (NEVs), the largest acquisition in the entire country. This acquisition is a part of a strategy that could ultimately supply as many as 28,000 electric vehicles to over 155 installations. This initiative, part of a comprehensive and far-reaching Army energy security strategy, will be administered through a partnership with the General Services Administration. By replacing 4,000 gas powered vehicles with the more fuel-efficient NEVs over the next three years, the Army will save 11 million gallons of fuel over the 6-year service life of the vehicle and reduce carbon dioxide emissions by 115,000 tons.
