Deardra talks with singer Annette St. John who is presently appearing at the Smoke club in NYC every Sunday.   Deardra will also discuss with Ms. St. John her new CD, INSIDE LIVE AT SMOKE.  Born and raised in Harlem, a neighborhood of many show business notables, Annette's style of music (Jazz, Blues, Standards and Gospel) ranges  from 1930's tunes to the present. Her influences are artists such as Sarah Vaughn and Dakota Stanton. Annette eventually followed the music after a stint raising her family. Waiting tables and mixing drinks resulted in an opportunity to sing at Sweetwaters. Other clubs followed like The Blue Note, Cotton Club, The Apollo,Village Vanguard, Londell's, Tavern on the Green, Showman's,Birdland, The Europa Club,Sugarbar, Cajun and the American Legion in Harlem. Annette has worked with musicians and vocalists the likes of Della Griffin, Lonnie Youngblood, Irene Reed, Fred Staton, Dr. Lonnie Smith, Seleno Clark, Nate Lucas and the late greats Etta Jones, Doc Pittman and Jimmy Butts. Ms. St. John has also recorded a CD entitled "Now is the Time."
