Playwright, composer, performer, AUDELCO and Obie Award Winner Daniel Beaty and legendary poet, writer and stage and screen actress Ruby Dee will join host Deardra Shuler to talk about Mr. Beaty's solo performance in "Through the Night." Directed by Charles Randolph Wright, performances begin September 10th at the Union Square Theatre, with opening night set for Sunday, September 26th. Artistic Ambassador to the show and Academy and Grammy Award winner, Ruby Dee who has appeared in Mr. and Mrs. Loving, Purlie Victorious, Jungle Fever, Their Eyes Were Watching God, South Pacific, A Raisin in the Sun, and Ossie and Ruby, et al, will talk about her support of the play which consists of Beaty portraying multiple characters who experience an unexpected epiphany that changes their lives forever.
