Our guest today is Dr. Alice Belcher.  Dr. Belcher is the author of FAMILY VIOLENCE: PREVENTION FOR AFRICAN AMERICAN COMMUNITIES,  This book is the first book in an important series of books on Family Violence, written by Dr. Alice Belcher.  Dr. Belcher is founder of the Certification Domestic Violence Advocate training program in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.

In her book, Dr. Belcher introduces the genre of “Family Violence Prevention” written through the lens of what Belcher coins, the “Black Female Activist Lens.” Family Violence is a multi-billion-dollar industry. Because of acts of violence by abusers against family members, entire social service systems are supported through the violent behavior of abusers. Dr. Belcher introduces a new paradigm of prevention and speaks to "domestic violence" vs “family violence” as a genre.  In doing so, she introduces a more expansive description and approach.

?Todays conversation will focus on Dr. Belchers book and the work being done in our community to combat this awful condition.  Our discussion will seek to understand the impact on victims and the root causes of those who are abusers.

The goal and objective of The Black Reality Think Tank is to understand the past, dissect the present and support implementing change for a meaningful future.
