This week we continue our education series with a look at

Mico Training College, founded in 1835.  Mico,

as it is fondly known on the Island, is the oldest

teacher-training college in the Western Hemisphere

and one of the oldest in the world rivaling the famed

Battersea College in England. Mico Training College, now Mico University, has produced

many of the Island’s leaders and politicians, including

Sir Clifford Campbell, O.N., G.C.M.G., G.C.V.O., and

the first Jamaican-born Governor-General of Jamaica, who

graduated Mico in 1915.

Mr. Desmond Green, Mico Class of 1961, will be our special guest in the Backyard this Today Wednesday, 8/24/11. Join us as we remember: The Way It Was!
