Cadet Alfred Harrell was shot and killed by a sniper at 2255 hours while working the gate at the Central Lockup. The sniper fired a .44 caliber carbibne from a field 280 feet away. Cadet Harrell was scheduled to end his shift only five minutes later. Alfred Harrell had been employed with the New Orleans Police Department for less than one year, and was survived by his wife and 9-month-old son.  

January 7, 2013, marks the 40th Anniversary of the Howard Johsnon killing. His brother Stephen Harrell was only nine year old when his brother was killed. Please join host Antoinette Harrell and her special guest Stephen Harrell for an upcoming discussion about his brother Alfred Harrell.
