The Symbols of Power in Black America

A trip through South Central LA is a highly educational one for a person like me.  I sit back and watch all symbols of power in the ghetto but a symbol is all there is.  As long as we see the symbols, feel them with our senses, we assume a feeling of power where there is none.

Today we begin to talk about our real work.  We will begin to hit the streets and do what it takes to wake up our Black Community, beginning with the Black Church.  Black America is destroying itself and the work of our Black Founding Fathers (our beloved Civil Right Pioneers) while we all sit and look.  I don’t understand, knowing what it took to get us here why we have allowed ourselves to settle for the symbols of power without true knowledge of the roots of power.
