Our Terms of Use and Privacy Policy have changed. We think you'll like them better this way.
We all have our stories to tell. We all have family histories, And our family histories, more often than not (I suspect) are far more deeply and closely embeget dded with the "great" moments of this nation than we allow our forebears credit for. Odds are, you've shaken hands with history far more directly than what you tell of it to others. Well, shake off your reticence -- as one Yank ship's captain off of Normandy told his crew on the loudspeakers on the morning of D-Day, 1844: "Now hear this! Boys, this is going to be the biggest party you ever get to, so get out on the floor and dance!" [emphasis mine]
Start sharing your personal and family stories, even if only with your family (although it would be nice if we could share in parts of it). For your children's sake if not for your own, just do it!
