Jewel’s soulful and jazz-style of singing came as a result of growing up listening to artists like Witness, Commissioned, The Clark Sisters, and Anita Baker. Her love for songwriting began at eight years old with her introduction to poetry. This hunger and thirst for singing and writing would continue through her Elementary and High School years.
She attended Andrews University in Berrien Springs, Michigan, where she received classical vocal training and sang with the University’s Ladies Chorus. As a student, Jewel continued to develop her craft-singing in the school's gospel choir and countless musical groups.
Jewel has been a member of the United Voices Mass Choir, under the direction of Darnell Crandle, and in 2003, Jewel joined a group named Simply Blessed, who in 2008 released their self-produced album "With You" with great local success. She was also a member of the Metropolitan Mass Choir, under the direction of Keith Ashmeade, the United Praise Ensemble, which led to her involvement in praise team ministry, which granted her the opportunity to sing for various congregations, opening up for such world- renowned figures such as Bishop T.D. Jakes & Marvin Sapp.
On the heels of that success, God still had an even bigger plan for Jewel’s future and she was called to spread the gospel through song as a solo artist. Her music ministry continues to reach others as a Minister of Music, Praise & Worship Leader and Choir Director.
Jewel's debut project, "Rain or Shine" is a testimony of her journey, filled with experiences of God's love, relationships, challenges and faith.
