If children have never been exposed to any cultural experiences outside their country, region or even community, chances are they will not be properly prepared to live in the ever-expanding global community. As the world’s interconnectedness rapidly expands, some people will be marginalized and/or left out completely of the shift toward global economic dependence. Big Boi, one half of the Grammy-Award winning alternative hip hop duo Outkast, started the organization Big Kidz Foundation to develop socially conscious youth. The goal of the organization is to providing youth with culturally diverse experiences that will expand their leadership abilities and create socially conscious individuals. Jennifer Shepard Lester, the executive director of Big Kidz Foundation, will be on the show to discuss why her organization is preparing youth to achieve and succeed in a new world.
