This broadcast features Dr. Terry J. Flowers. Dr. Flowers is our 2017 Marvin Johnson Diversity and Equity Award recipient.

The award recognizes a sustained, outstanding contribution or a specific extraordinary achievement that has enhanced diversity and equity within an area of society. It honors the dedicated leadership, compassion and passionate advocacy of individuals who have successfully contributed to removing barriers or obstacles to full and equal participation at various levels of society.

Dr. Flowers is a life long educator and the Perot Family Headmaster at St Philips School, and Community Center where he has served in leadership since 1983. Dr. Flowers holds three masters’s degrees which attest to his commitment to education and earned his Doctorate in Eduction at the Teacher’s College of Columbia University in 1995

Dr. Flower’s leadership led to the establishment of a curriculum for St Philips which emphasizes academic excellence, a positive self-image, and a faith -based focus for life. Along side, the strong academic program is a wealth of social services and community development activities, which are crucial to the revitalization of the neighborhood and support to its residents.
