Derrick Salter’s ( “The Son of Jody”) Southern Soul Roots started as an early child raised in Columbus, Mississippi by way of Birmingham, Al. Some of Derrick Salter’s influence in music are Johnnie Taylor, Marvin Sease, Teddy Pendergrass, Al Green, Muddy Water, Howlin Wolfe, Jeffrey Osborne, Jackie Wilson, & Chitlin’ Circuit (Down in the Delta) just to name a few!

Derrick Salter (“The Son of Jody”) has won many talent shows including the Savoir-Faire Magazine Talent Showcase (Charlotte, NC.) and was also featured in their magazine! Derrick Salter was also a contestant on the hit show “The Voice” in 2016! In 2017, Derrick Salter also won the Sony music Distribution Competition Tour for unsigned artist!

Fast forward to 2018, Derrick Salter (“The Son Of Jody”) has been on the grind releasing hit single after hit single and touring across the U.S. Currently, The Son of Jody has four singles he’s currently promoting: “The Son of Jody”, “Dance & Groove”, “Long As She’s A Lady”, & “Let’s Get Together”.
