In the month of May we have concentrated on the theme grieving. We have focused on grieving from a mother’s perspective and family dynamics. This week however, on Talk back Tuesday we will be focusing on grieving from a male and father’s standpoint.
Most male are condition to be the “macho” type. Meaning they are raised and taught not to associate typical grief symptoms such as sadness, crying, depressed mood, and a sense of hopelessness. These characteristic are usually used to define female emotion during the grieving process.
Males tend to bottle up their emotions trying to be strong for their family.
Studies shows that after a loss men experience greater changes in mood than women and experience more consequences on their physical health.
Tune in to Talk Back Tuesday as we continue grieving from a man’s point of view.
