Dr. Gene Edward Veith, Jr., is an Alliance Council member and Provost and Professor of Literature, at Patrick Henry College, a Christian classical liberal arts college in Purcellville, VA. Prior to coming to Patrick Henry College as Dean of Academic Affairs, Dr. Veith previously served as the Culture Editor of World Magazine and Executive Director of the Cranach Institute at Concordia Theological Seminary in Ft. Wayne, Indiana. Prior to his years at World Magazine, Dr. Veith was on the faculty for 19 years as Professor of English at Concordia University Wisconsin, where he also served for six years as the Dean of the School of Arts and Sciences. He has also taught at Northeastern Oklahoma A&M College and has been a visiting professor at the Estonian Institute of Humanities, Gordon-Conwell, Regent College (Vancouver), and Wheaton College. In addition he also serves as the director of the Cranach Institute at Concordia Theological Seminary in Ft. Wayne, Indiana. He has been a Fellow at the Capital Research Center and Heritage Foundation. Dr. Veith is well-known in Christian conservative circles through his writing and speaking on various aspects of Christianity and culture. He is a columnist for Table Talk magazine. He also operates the Cranach blog (geneveith.com) featuring regular commentary on Christianity and Culture. His writings number more than 100 scholarly articles, reviews, papers, and books including Postmodern Times: A Christian Guide to Contemporary Thought and Culture; God at Work: Your Christian Vocation in All of Life; A Place to Stand: The Word of God in the Life of Martin Luther; and Spirituality of the Cross: The Way of the First Evangelicals.
