Dr. David Michael Jacobs, a recently retired professor of history at Temple University in Philadelphia, has been a UFO researcher for 47 years. In 1973, he completed his doctoral dissertation on the controversy of unidentified flying objects in America. This was only the second Ph.D. granted involving a UFO-related theme.
He has delivered many articles, papers, and addresses on the subject of UFOs and abductions and has four published books, The UFO Controversy in America, Secret Life: Firsthand Accounts of UFO Abductions, The Threat, and UFOs and Abductions: Challenging the Borders of Knowledge. He was assistant editor for Time-Life’s best selling book, The UFO Phenomenon, published in 1989.
From 1977 to 2011 he taught the country’s only university course on UFOs and abductions: “UFOs and American Society.” Since the early 1980s, he has specialized in the UFO abduction phenomenon, and has conducted over 1,000 hypnotic regressions with over 150 individuals.
In 1991, Dr. Jacobs and colleague Budd Hopkins conducted the national Roper Organization poll, this was the first scientifically random poll to ascertain the potential number of abductees in the U.S. The results of that influential survey were published in the 1992 booklet; Unusual Personal Experiences. He and his colleagues then gave a series of workshops instructing members of the mental health community on the methods of abduction hypnosis, research, and therapy.
Since 1972 he has discussed UFOs and abductions on hundreds of radio and television shows both nationally and internationally, and his current projects include books on the methodology of abduction hypnosis, new developments in the hybrid integration program, and an in-depth analysis of the hybrid phenomenon.
