Born in Harlem and raised in Brooklyn, Sylvia Isabel shares her family pictures and stories as part of a digital project about personal histories.
“My paternal side migrated from Mississippi and my maternal side immigrated from China and so I never really had a reunion so O thought this was a great way for my family to have a reunion in a digital way,” she says.
Isabel is a participant in the Digital Diaspora Family Reunion Roadshow. Bronx-born filmmaker Thomas Allen Harris founded the project in an effort to preserve histories and build communities. Over the last few years, he's traveled to several cities, interviewing Americans about their families, and then uploading their narratives and images online. Please join host Antoinette Harrell and her special guest Sylvia Isabel-Lewis for this discussion on her family histories.
