Pencils. Folders. Fresh new notepads. Learning about the online life of a tween or teenager is also something parents should be putting on their back-to-school checklist, as a new school year likely means new friends, experiences and the potential for a valuable lesson on social media manners, safety and etiquette.

Smartphones and tablets are the accessories of choice for so many tweens and young teenagers who are just starting to venture into social media sites like Facebook and Twitter. Parents need to make sure they are teaching their tweens how to be good digital citizens who are prepared to deal with issues like cyber bullying, online safety and privacy and social media responsibility.

Hay, Founder, Hay There Social Media, and Sheri Watkins, Saving Face Content Creator, discuss how to arm parents with the information they need to guide their tweens to make smart online decisions.
