Freelancing is a more intense experience than contracting. I.T. Contracting was more job-ish, whereas freelancing is business-ish. Coming from a job environment, being an entrepreneur is a big culture shock! So, despite thinking that I knew a thing or two about freelancing, I still had to learn a thing or three or four about slugging it out as a freelancer. Here are a few lessons that I've learned about freelancing: (1) if you do not know who you are, freelancing is an expensive place to find out; (2) work in the money economy; (3) buyers come to you; (4) no technological platform, no money!
