Former NFL player Perry Tuttle will be chatting with The Maverick about his book titled What White People Want to Know about Black People but Are Afraid to Ask. In bringing a fresh perspective, Mr. Tuttle says he also wants to initiate healthy conversations between black folks and white folks.

The Maverick met Mr. Tuttle while he was working as a sports reporter covering Mr. Tuttle’s alma mater, Clemson, back in the late 1990s. In an article that earned The Maverick national honors, Mr. Tuttle is quoted as saying at the time cultural differences and a lack of understanding among both black and white people remains to be a big hurdle.

Mr. Tuttle was also a starting wide receiver on Clemson’s 1981 national championship football team. To this date, he is the only Clemson football player to appear on the cover of Sports Illustrated. He’s a corporate speaker and serves as chaplain for the NBA Charlotte Bobcats.
