Ms. Devon N. Thompson is going into her 3rd year as Assistant Professor and Advisor of Kinesiology at Jarvis Christian College (JCC). In the past seven years at JCC, Thompson has held positions as Head Volleyball Coach, Champions of Character Liaison, Athletic Compliance Officer & Assistant Director of Athletics, and Academic Student Success Advisor. She also has served on several committees. 

After graduating from Philander Smith College, Thompson landed her first coaching job at University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff (UAPB) where she was assistant volleyball and bowling coach & Adjunct Physical Education Professor. She also pursued her Master’s Degree in Secondary Education Physical Education while at UAPB.

After leaving coaching and stepping back into the health field from 2005-2008, Thompson missed the game of volleyball and decided to get back into coaching as the head volleyball coach at Philander Smith College.

At the end of 2011, she took a position in Tyler, Texas, as the Athletic Director and Sports Information Director at Texas College (TC). After leaving TC, she accepted the position as the head volleyball coach at Jarvis Christian College from 2012-2019 before moving into her current position. While at JCC, she completed her Master’s at University of Concordia-Irvine with a Masters of Coaching and Administrative degree in 2015.
