In this episode, Dr. David Hanscom continues his discussion with Dr. Serena Sterling, who trained in clinical psychology and is a certified life coach. She talks about the importance of developing rapport with her patients to learn about the issues and relationships in their lives that may be at the root of their chronic pain. She details her approach to treating chronic pain and shares a patient story to illustrate how her technique works.

Serena Sterling earned her doctorate in clinical psychology from the California Institute of Integral Studies in San Francisco, is a certified life coach, and has learned a number of mind-body stress reduction modalities to help people with physical and emotional pain feel better fast. Although she specializes in helping people with chronic pain and medically unexplained symptoms, she also helps athletes recover from injuries and overcome sports performance issues. She sees people in person in Portland, Oregon, and also sees people remotely all over the world. She is the author of Pain: A Love Story and her website is drserenasteling.com.
