"Attorney-at-War" Alton H. Maddox Jr., makes his first apprearence on the show today. Maddox has been nothing less than controversial since the days of his representing Tawana Brawley, and his uncompromising defense of her hasn't come without cost. He has been barred from practicing in New York State, evidently without having violated any law. He issued this statement on his "Reinstate Alton Maddox" website:
When I resume the practice of law without the white man’s permission, I will first insist that I be treated as an officer of the court. Court officers have always had a difficult time recognizing me as an officer of the court. Most black lawyers refuse to seek this title. They hat a high “bar.” Blacks would love to go into the courthouse with me. All of my followers enjoyed respect. Black children loved it. They respect “Freedom Fighters.”
The black teacher at Spring Valley High School in Columbia, SC surrendered his classroom to the sheriff’s office. He falsely reported a crime. The black girl had not engaged in probable cause. No reason existed for a deputy sheriff to be summoned into the classroom. This was a false arrest.
