$0The HeART of Culture$0We all have a story, a particular heritage and cultural background that has a rich tradition in celebrating those roots with all the Arts and Crafts. In fact, it is what people create that helps define and shape a particular gathering of persons. No matter the costume, what unifies us is the fact that we all have hearts. When we look beyond the surface differences, there is more, much more, that we have in common.$0$0$0$0If you notice, embedded in the word " heart" is the word ART. When we express from our hearts, all cultures can understand. The language of Art is a universal language. This is why it is so important to nurture creativity within our lives. Through respecting each individual perspective and celebrating that, the deeper we go, the more we understand one another.$0$0$0$0$0The Mission Arts Council had a display table set up at Friday's Multi-Cultural Teen Show at the Leisure Center promoting our programs. We showed the youth how to take an ordinary magazine paper and transform it into beads to make bracelets. The paper that once communicated in one language was transformed into a delightful, surprising bead that everyone can enjoy. $0$0$0$0$0We are like unique, handmade beads on a gigantic, global necklace connected by a golden circle of our hearts.

Restorative Justice is a relatively new trend towards alternative intervention between victim and offender families, or any type of conflict that needs a creative solution. How can we form collaborative effective supportive community structures? Ones that empower individuals to honor their own unique point of view? To tap into inner wisdom and truth? Its is becoming a new trend. Change is on the horizon, but just what will that look like? http://www.mission.ca/Page520.aspx is a page that describes what Mission is doing to create a more dynamic, happy, multifaceted, sparkling community!!!
