To make this separation/divorce time easier on you, your ex, and most importantly – your children, follow these 15 Boundaries. These boundaries have been used by me, my ex, and my clients with much success. These are not easy, but doable – and essential for you to keep your sanity – and keep your children insulated from this tumultuous process.

10 Ways to Create Healthy Boundaries With Your Ex During & After Divorce:

Insulate the children from the process and your emotions about the process as much as possible.

  • Treat your ex and the process like a business transaction.
  • Keep your ex up to date on all happenings with the children when they are with you.
  • Never, ever leave nasty: emails, fb messages, voice mails, tweets.
  • If you are separated in the same house
  • Keep your home sacred and peaceful
  • Use your words Carefully
  • Stay out of your ex’s phone, computer, and email.
  • Get as much support as you can. You are allowed your feelings.  It’s how and when you express them that can be an issue
  • Family may not be your best source of support
  • Stay away from friends that want to live their awful divorce through you
  • Find a Family Therapist to help your children deal with their losses
  • Don’t be afraid to walk away
  • You can’t control your ex – so don’t even try
  • Therapy and Coaching is your friend
