This is Child Abuse Prevention Month & Sexual Assault Awareness Month, two very serious and dark topics, but something that is becoming increasingly easier to discuss and find help, or create a support network for others. Often you might think it impossible for your neighbor or your family to be someone who could either hurt or manipulate someone. In the past these offenses were kep[t hidden; men & women didn't dare try to discuss or seek support. Our laws didn't allow for prosecution and our society ALWAYS placed blame and shame on the victims, rather than condemn the offenders. All of this is changing!! It's changing because strong survivors have made the choice to make these topics a priority. I am but one of those survivors who have published their horrific story, however I've been told mine is too graphic for even doctors and medical professionals to hear. How terrible that those who have one of the greatest abilities to see and help someone, don't really know exactly what to look for or the right questions to ask, if they ask any at all. We are making this an issue across the country and around the world, so give us YOUR VOICE.
