Please join us (Tuesday August 3, 2010 at 7:00 PM EST) for the first part of our three part series on the American Public Education Crisis. The US Public Educational System has long been a failure, especially to the indigent and youth of color. It is an unequal system, much like America itself. It is a system with too many holes to count. It is a system designed to obfuscate masses of youth and to continually push them to self-isolate themselves from others as well as the non-Western world. It is a system that is institutionally racist to the CORE and programs children to blindly support the destructive and imperialist ways of the United States. It is a system that does not support critical thought---a critical thinking society would undoubtedly demand a change in its county’s foreign and domestic policies! The only way for it to be repaired is to be reinvested in and revamped---and not by way of charter schools or corporate influence. President Obama’s “Race to the Top” is as much a sham as was Bush’s “No Child Left behind Act”. Teachers and the Unions are under attack from the likes of Bill Gates to Wal-Mart to Arne Duncan (Obama’s education hatchet man). However in the meantime there are activists and organizations (like BAMN/By Any Means Necessary) fighting back to save public education. This is a series on American Education that you simply won’t hear or see on any corporate media airwaves. This series will very much, also, focus on solutions (what we need to do to change the face of education). This week we speak with educator and social activist, Danny Weil. Danny has been covering education related issues for decades now. He is the author of numerous books and hundreds of articles. He will be speaking on the history of charter schools, the corporate and neoliberal attack on education, as well as several other topics you are not supposed to know about regarding education in America…
