Mandiba Magic : The Curious Case of Winnie vs Nelson Mandela

Winnie Mandela said "Mandela came out of jail a Dalai Lama of white people, their savior. Through him, white capital was able to keep its grip on South African economic power while the masses were given a beguiling opium in the form of Mandiba magic".

This week, the world mourns the passing of an icon for racial equality. But how many of us understand the difference between an "icon" and a "revolutionary"? 

The MadMen take a look at the media white washing of Nelson Mandela, his presidency, and how nothing much has changed in South Africa. The majority of Black people are still disenfranchised, while a few token Blacks are allowed access to privilege as a show of progress. Now racial apartheid had been replaced with economic apartheid.
