Randy says, " I never gave much thought to "writing strong women" until Sylvia pointed out I had some ladies who could take on the world when required.  That made me take a look and consider them.  Yes.  Sylvia was right.

My first "strong" woman was "Kit" Carsen Levitt.  Kit appears as Ace's sidekick in the Ace Edwards, Dallas PI series.

The second "woman" I ran into was Abby (Abigail) Archer.  She came to life in THORNS ON ROSES, a thriller featuring Tom Jeffries.  Abby is an attorney assigned to work with Tom, a fact Tom vows not to allow, and Abby's not too thrilled about it either.  But she matches him wit for wit and Tom finally has no choice but to cave.  Abby is "strong" enough to wear him down, then provide indispensable help in his quest.

My third took on the title role.  Beth (Elizabeth) Bowman is a PI in South Florida.  When she is framed for murder and the police aren't anxious to assist her, Beth takes it upon herself to find justice.  There is one scene in HOT ROCKS that will cause any man to accept Beth's toughness.

I like to think all my characters are strong, even the nasties.  But as I look back over my eight books, I've given a extra edge to the ladies.  Why?  I have no real reason except that my mother was a strong woman who survived the depression and went on to raise me (no small feat, indeed).  Yes, my father was there, but Mom was the driving force."
