Join Writestream co-founder and Tuesday host Daria Anne on June 21 at 1 p.m. Eastern when she welcomes author Michael Millman to the show. Here's a bit about this new author in his own words:

Having grown up in Wickford, Rhode Island, my earliest memories are of experiences in and on the water. A 1968 graduate of the University of Rhode Island and an ROTC member, I was commissioned as a Second Lieutenant in the Army at graduation and served two years on active duty including a year in the Viet Nam theatre of operations.

After military service I worked for Proctor and Gamble for three years before deciding I wanted a career that was more entrepreneurial and chose the life insurance business as a path to that goal. My 37 year career in that field provided an outlet for creativity and unlimited financial opportunity. I really enjoyed what I did and liked the people I served as clients as well as the people I employed.

My first real work was as a quahogger when I was 14. This experience, coupled with my life insurance career served as the inspiration for "The Quahogger Murders" which is my first novel. Many of the anecdotes in the book are somewhat autobiographical with a good measure of poetic license thrown in. Currently living in New Orleans with my new wife Rachel, my family still has the home my parents purchased across the breakwater from Wickford harbor in 1942. While the world has changed greatly since then, much has stayed the same in Shore Acres. It is still a little community where people take the time to get to know each other. Many of the homes there have been kept in the same families for generations. Whenever I visit I can feel the presence of friends past and relish the memories of the wonderful times we had and still have there.
