Word of Wisdom - Plain and Simple - Hosted by Dianne Adams, a servant of God - Wednesday, June 5, 2024 - 8 PM call in number 347-945-7869 Prayer Line 504-289-9501 Jesus teaches the true intention of the law Matthew 5:38-48 When the Bible speaks of ?the law,? it refers to the detailed standard for living God's way. He began with the Ten Commandments and gave them to Moses. When the children of Israel became God's chosen people and was about to enter the Land that God had promised their forefather, He knew it was time to establish a set of rules which became laws, because before then there were none. Romans 5: 13 (For until the law sin was in the world: but sin is not imputed when there is no law. God's wanting to give them the requirements to live by as His people. God's Laws explained His requirements for a holy people and included three categories. Civil: This law dictated Israel's daily living. The principles behind the commands are used to guide our conduct. Ceremonial: This type of law relates to Israel's worship. The laws pointed forward to Jesus Christ and were no longer necessary after Jesus' death and resurrection. Though we are no longer bound to them, the principles behind the ceremonial laws, to worship and love God, still apply. Moral laws: The moral laws are direct commands of God. A good example is the Ten Commandments. The moral laws reveal the nature and will of God, and still apply to us today. We do not obey these moral laws as a way to obtain salvation, but to live in ways pleasing to God. The Law was given to separate God's people from the evil nations around them and to define sin. The Law also clearly demonstrated that no human being could purify himself enough to please God, the Law revealed their sins and their need for a Savior. Come and join us.
